Hatha Yoga can be described as a physical practice that aims to create and maintain balance within our mind and body. To help us achieve this, the practice usually combines a mixture of breathing techniques with physical postures (Asana). Students are given the time to explore each posture at their own depth. Classes are usually delivered at a slower pace and with more guidance than other styles of Yoga, which is one of the reasons Hatha Yoga is often a great place to start for beginners.
There are often lots of claims made about the benefits of Yoga (some of which, haven't necessarily been proven), but we do know that over time, consistent Yoga practice can increase our physical strength, mobility and flexibility - leading to a greater sense of physical wellbeing. Students may also see their mental wellbeing improve with regular practice.
Yes! We have classes available for supporting beginners of mixed level ability. By joining our sessions you will learn about the foundations of Yoga to help you stay safe as you explore Yoga postures. You will be able to work at your own pace and level during the class.
If you are completely new to That Yoga Class, you will need to complete and return a health questionnaire to us before you attend your first class. This helps us gain a basic understanding of your general health so we can help keep you safe during classes. You can also share any individual aims you might have for your Yoga practice, so we can better support you towards achieving your goals.
Our sessions are active Yoga classes, so you will need to wear clothes that you can move freely in. Sports or leisure wear is ideal.
You are invited to be barefoot during the class.
Essential: Please bring your own Yoga mat with you.
We recommend bringing a bottle of water.
You may also wish to bring extra layers, or a blanket for the relaxation section of the class.
You might also like to bring Yoga blocks or straps to help you with some postures, but this is not a requirement.
